The Rubikons to release the indie anthem of the summer, 'The Ground Beneath My Feet'
In 2006 during the height on the indie resurgence, The Rubikons unloaded their gear into Magic Garden Studios in Wolverhampton with recording legend Gavin Monaghan (Editors, Kings of Leon) to record their first set of tracks. Writing songs about friendships, unforgettable nights out and the day to day struggles of working life, the band left their jobs, packed up their things to go on the road playing shows all over the UK, gaining a following and making noise within the industry including Vertigo Records (The Killers, Razorlight), Alan McGee (Creation Records) and Hall or Nothing PR (Oasis, Muse, Radiohead).
In 2007 to 2008, the band continued to gain traction all over the country. Writing began on what would be their debut album, and demo's were recorded at the bands rehearsal space and home studio. These set of songs were re-discovered during Covid lockdowns and have been edited, remixed and mastered and will now finally be released later this year.
'Its amazing to hear these songs again in all their true glory and instantly takes me back to those amazing summer nights playing to sold out venues across the country' explains Pete Forbes, singer and guitarist.
The first single from the record, 'The Ground Beneath My Feet', is a pure, driving indie rock and roll anthem about youth, growing up in their hometown of Wolverhampton, and is set to be the indie anthem of the summer. The single is available everywhere on Friday 17 May 2024.
