Asbury Park, NJ - September 24, 2024 - New Jersey rockers THE RATCHETS recently released “News On High,” the latest in their ambitious digital singles campaign, and they’ve just released a pointed video for the song. Click here to watch.

News On High” is a multi-faceted political pop gem that imagines each news cycle as a hit single blasting out of stereos across America. The reggae-infused verses build into a four-on-the-floor chorus that dares you to turn up the volume and dance. The band takes lyrical aim at the blending of entertainment and politics; news and outrage; and the media’s never-ending loop of hysteria that is both divisive and dangerous.

Turn up the News On High!

The video for the song - edited by Zak Kaplan of Rogue State Design and with cinematography by Perin Vazquez of Headshots of Brooklyn - expands on the song’s themes by casting the band members as reporters in the 24 hour corporate news cycle and participants in a nonstop multimedia information onslaught across televisions, laptops, cellphone screens, billboards and more.

News On High” is also available on all major streaming services, and is the fourth in a string of digital singles for the punk rock stalwarts, who have made it their initiative to continue to release singles over the next few years. The band have seen an enthusiastic response to previous singles “Street Manners,” “Swagger With Kindness,” and “Hurricane Condition,” the latter of which quickly took its place among the band’s most-streamed songs of all time!
