The Proctors Team Up with Sunday Records for New Album 'Snowdrops and Hot Air Balloons'
The Proctors were "formed" in 1993 by songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Gavin Priest. He roped in his sister and a couple of mates and the group recorded a well received demo which led to Albert of Sunday Records (USA) offering to release a 7" single by the band. 'The Baby Blue EP' was released in 1993. The Proctors then released a few more singles and in 1996 the album ’Pinstripes and Englishmen’. The album sold well and the band begun to attract a small but loyal international following. However, Gavin's involvement with other musical projects left little time to concentrate on The Proctors and the group decided to take a break.
The Proctors (with a slightly different line-up) returned to release the album ’Everlasting Light’ on Shelflife records (USA) in 2013. The album featured Terry Bickers of The House of Love on guest guitar, and a couple of tracks were produced by Saint Etienne's Ian Catt. The album sold out quickly, and the Proctors played gigs in New York, Madrid, Berlin, Hamburg, Rome, Milan, Copenhagen as well as UK dates. Last year Shelflife reissued ’Everlasting Light’ on vinyl only to sell out again.
Following a couple, more vinyl singles with Shelflife, and another 7 inch with Berlin-based Dreams Never Ends Records, The Proctors team up again with Sunday records to release new album "Snowdrops and Hot Air Balloons". (available on coloured vinyl and CD)
The band now have their first "stable "lineup and have played numerous live shows over the last couple of years, they are:
Gavin Priest: Guitar / Vocals
Sofia Arnell: Keyboards / Vocal
Kate Lackenby: Bass / Vocals
Paul Collins: Drums (ex Sweet Jesus)
