20 years of the Go! Team’s Thunder Lightning Strike, 20 years of lasers through tracing paper, orange tone oscillations, cable access hangover,  music made through sunburnt circuits, a K-Tel dream sequence, a haunted vision mixer, station wagon-core, straight to video, VHS in distress, something in the fog, fluff on the needle, chromakey constellations, a hovercraft on the fret board, maxing the minute maid, faxing a car alarm, a Morse code pep talk, etch-a-sketch jackknife, a daily Haley’s comet, light sound colour motion, a holiday from yourself…

The Go! Team burst onto the scene back in 2004 with ‘Thunder, Lightning, Strike’ putting the disco in discordant & red limiting the levels and emerging from a small bedroom concern in Brighton, went on to take on the world.  To celebrate the LP is being pressed on translucent red clever vinyl and both CD and LP are packaged with a recreation of the original CDR versions of the album that stands up as a document of band leader Ian Parton’s initial vision for ‘Thunder, Lightning, Strike’. This final reissue is a celebration of a record that sounded out of time in 2004, dripping in future nostalgia, and which twenty years on still sounds as unique and uncategorisable as it did when it arrived.

A Rough Trade exclusive edition is machine numbered and pressed on red and yellow splatter vinyl and comes with an exclusive 7”, featuring new versions of Hold Yr Terror Close by the Pastels and The Orielles.

The Go! Team have also asked a range of artists they love and admire to remix and refashion tracks from the album – every month a new one will be revealed – with the latest being a take on ‘Everyone’s a V.I.P. to Someone’ by Cornershop, following on from reworks by Lilien Rosarian, CV Vision and Louie Zong

The remixes will be released throughout 2024.

Led by M.C Ninja, an autumnal celebration of the album’s original 2004 release comes with shows in the UK, the US and beyond where the band will play the album in full, front to back.  One life affirming experience, as those who witnessed their sold out show at London’s iconic 3000 cap Roundhouse in February and recent Glastonbury set will testify.
