About the Tracks

New Fods material for 2025! This hasn’t had the 30+ year gestation period like that of the Don’t ARgue project—this is hot-off-the-press, newly written material to kick off the New Year in typically noisy fashion.

So what do we have here? A two-track release with the double A-side single ‘The Ineffectuals’ and ‘Shopping’, a gem from the Good Stock Records back catalogue, just to keep things ticking over.

We’re told to expect a healthy production line from The Fods in 2025, with more of this type of release—headlining new material while mining the old tapes and memory banks for the supporting cast.

1: The Ineffectuals

The writing and production team that brought most of the Don’t ARgue project to bear, Critchley / Collins, has been forged anew, bringing you Rob’s words and Ol’s music once again. This is an utter rock banger, featuring the awesome Joe Booe handling vocals.

2: Shopping

This is an old, flawed track that The Fods have taken on, resulting in a great mash-up of Ben and Jon (both appearing courtesy of The Goodstock Project) as the rhythm section. However, The Fods took charge of the vocalist, introducing the amazing Aura Davis, with backing vocals from Birch.

Biography

The Fods are a transatlantic writing and recording partnership who augment their unique indie Punk rock sound with some of the most talented vocalists around.

Comprising of a rotating cast of collaborators, stretching back to long-standing writing partnerships from the ’90s right through to new cohorts found in the Wild West that is the internet.

As a result the material is eclectic, but always guitar forward, genre traversing, energetic tunes. Writers, performers, collaborators and technicians contribute from anywhere across this earth, so each song will have its own individual sensation.

As of Spring 2023 The Fods entered a “write an EP in a month” challenge, the result of which was the “One To Watch” EP, named after the accolade it was awarded. The lead-off single Gil Barco, was release on all streaming platforms on 14th July 2023, with the EP following on 13th October.

In late 2023 The Fods started the Don’t ARgue project which revisits the very earliest ancestry of Good Stock Records, modernising tracks recorded on 4-track tape by the band of the same name in the early 1990’s. The lead single You’ve Not Got Me dropped late Dec 2023, with 2nd single My Fine Derangement in May 2024 and 3rd single Volumes of Silence following in August. The project came to a noisy conclusion with the EP release on streaming services and a run of digipak CDs in September 2024.

2025 kicked off with a series of single / EP releases with new material on “side A” and archival / covers / curiosities on the B side – the first of which was The Ineffectuals / Shopping released in Jan.
