The birth of the song, Things You Do, started back in June of 2021 during the pandemic, when Evan wrote the chorus of the song during a studio session the band was at for a different song. It wasn’t until 6 months later when listening to some R&B at the time and taking influence from songs such as Rain by SWV that Evan came up with the verse for the song.
The song was then added to long list of songs for the band to work on and it wasn’t until April of 2022 when Andrew decided to do a demo of the song with a 70s influence taken from songs like Dreams by Fleetwood Mac and some 70s soul classics for the arrangement and adding the vocal bridge section and a solo to the song.
Evan and Andrew then set out to record the song in Andrew's shed/studio, where the band do all their recordings, playing and engineering everything themselves. Evan then added the acoustic intro and first verse section that has a slower tempo which you hear at the start of the song.
