The Fierce & The Dead Announce New Album "News From The Invisible World"

Set to Release on July 28, 2023, on Spencer Park Music

London, UK - The Fierce and The Dead have announced the release of their new album, "News From The Invisible World" on July 28. The 8-song, 42-minute album marks the band's first release featuring vocals from bassist Kevin Feazey. Guests include Matt Jones (Jamie T/ Beady Eye) on keys, Tom Hunt on backing vocals (Orange Clocks), and brass from Terry Edwards (PJ Harvey/Gallon Drunk). The album has been 5 years in the making.

Over their 13-year history, The Fierce & The Dead has built a reputation as one of the most innovative rock bands in the UK, with a loyal fanbase and critical acclaim for their previous releases. They have played across the UK, mainland Europe, and the US, touring supporting Hawkind, Crippled Black Phoenix, and many more, at festivals including Arctangent, Ramblin Man, Freak Valley and Prognosis. "News From The Invisible World" showcases the band's continued evolution and willingness to push boundaries while still maintaining their distinctive sound that mixes psychedelia, stoner rock, prog, post-rock, shoegaze and metal. This is their first album to feature lead vocals.

For vocalist/bassist Kevin Feazey: “The album really digs deep into where we come from musically and sets up the path ahead, we've always found ways to do things differently, and now those doors are wide open. It came together over lockdown, which meant that we had a chance to take stock, see the music from a different perspective, and allow ourselves time to experiment with different textures and sounds. Adding vocals didn't seem like a dramatic step, but something that these pieces would benefit from, it felt obvious to us.”

“We wanted to make an ambitious record like Mercury Rev and the Flaming Lips made in the late 90s, but you can hear lots of influences in there, even the Carcass and Napalm Death records we loved when we were teenagers, Slowdive and all sorts,” says guitarist Matt Stevens. “We didn’t get to tour the last record as much as we’d like due to my cancer diagnosis and then COVID, and it went bonkers, so hopefully, this one will be somewhat easier.”

"News From The Invisible World" will be available on CD, vinyl, and digital download on July 28, 2023. Pre-orders are available now from the band's Bandcamp page. The band launches the album with a live appearance at London’s Black Heart on October 14. The band will announce a UK headline tour for 2024 shortly.

Full Bio:

The Fierce & The Dead are a British rock band formed in 2010. The band consists of Kevin Feazey (lead vocals/bass), Matt Stevens (guitar/keys), Steve Cleaton (guitar), and Stuart Marshall (drums). While they started as an instrumental band, Feazey has taken on the role of lead vocalist in recent years, adding a new dimension to the band's sound. Their music is a fusion of psychedelic rock, old metal records, post-rock, prog, broken analogue synths, and shoegaze.

The band recently announced their first headline show in London in three years, which sold out six months in advance. They have also achieved over 100,000 streams across various streaming platforms for their three 2022 singles. Their new album, "News From The Invisible World," will be released on July 28, 2023, and they plan to tour the UK in 2024.

The Fierce & The Dead's music has been championed by Kevin Cole of KEXP, Stuart Maconie on BBC 6 Music, and Steve Davis on his Interesting Alternative Show. Their third album, "The Euphoric," released in 2018 via BEM Records, was named Classic Rock Magazine’s Prog Album Of The Year and 8th in Prog Magazine’s critic's choice, where they were also included as one of their 100 Prog Icons.

The band has toured with Hawkwind, Big Business, Dave Lombardo, Crippled Black Phoenix, Evil Blizzard, and Monkey 3, and has played at festivals in the USA, Europe, and the UK, including Freak Valley, Prognosis, Arctangent, HRH, Kozfest, Ramblin Man, and Rosfest. In 2022, they played at festivals in the UK, Holland, and Italy. The Fierce & The Dead has previously released three studio albums, four EPs, and three live albums.

Recent Press

“The work of a truly original band pushing forth and genuinely progressing” - Real Gone

“The band combines massive riffs of shoegaze, metal, and stoner rock properties, all enveloped in a progressive structure to create an engaging and hard-hitting piece.” Destroy/Exist

“Musical genius, up there with Bowie and co. Photogenic Love is worth every second of your time. Don’t waste anymore – spend it well for once! Looking forward to the album.” - Martin Kielty (Classic Rock/Prog/Metal Hammer)

“A big departure from the band’s previous sound, I think this is a fantastic new direction and sounds like 90’s pop mixed with fuzzy psychedelica, almost like A-ha met with the Gorillaz and asked Billy Corgan to join in the fun…bloody fantastic and their best song yet!” - Prog Radar

“Switching from metal to prog, surf and avant-garde. Dark and stark washes of guitar and synths ride the groundswell of bass and drums. It is a track that unfolds gradually, exposing more elements after each listen. Ambitious and grandiose stuff delivered impeccably.” - Here Comes The Flood

“This is a wall of sound out to knock down not only the walls of your house but your neighbours if you play it loud enough….with two great singles behind them I am really looking forward to the album when it comes out later in the year.” - Prog Archives

“The new single Golden Thread, is edgy, filmic, dangerously contemporary and rifftastic. To me, it's the sound of a band escaping the small prog village and on their way to a major festival.” - Robin Armstrong (Cosmograf)

“A fresh psych-fuzz freakout from one of the UK’s trickiest-to-pin-down instrumental rockers – except their first new music in four years isn’t actually instrumental, featuring vocal contributions from Kevin Feazey for the first time. (A) peak grunge-channeling chorus riff, which takes equal billing with the verse’s shoegaze-worthy washed-out chords.” - Guitar World (Essential tracks of the week)

"Be prepared to have that phrase – annoy and irritate your friends with it floating around your brain for days. Surely the sort of hook that makes a good single?" - At The Barrier

“Modulates between being a dark, fuzzed-out ripper and an exploratory post-rock/jazz fusion. It’s an exciting track that shows off TFATD’s mastery of post-rock songwriting and excellent mix/master engineering. Highly recommended.” - Independent Clauses
