The Boy Detective Premiere Video For New Holiday Single

The Boy Detective Premiere Lyric Video for Holiday Ska Anthem “I Renounce Verdukianism!”

Watch the Video on New Noise

"While the title may reference a holiday-themed episode of the hit sitcom '30 Rock,' the song itself is something entirely different, depicting a depressingly lonesome holiday in the most hilarious way possible. With a rollicking ska-punk energy, it harkens back to the hilarious ska-punk comedy bands of the ’90s like Reel Big Fish."- New Noise

Get ready for a ska-filled holiday surprise! The Boy Detective has unveiled the lyric video for their latest festive single, “I Renounce Verdukianism!” A spirited, tongue-in-cheek take on holiday chaos, the track blends upbeat ska rhythms with irreverent humor. Lead vocalist Benny Capaul describes the song as “our nod to the holidays gone wrong, packed with all the regrets and frosty mishaps one could hope for.”

The single, which debuted across streaming platforms on November 8, 2024, has already brought holiday cheer (and laughs) to listeners everywhere.

"So you might not believe this is a Christmas song, but nobody is going to argue with John Williams" says Geridan St Peter, who plays trombone for The Boy Detective. (One of the writing credits in “I Renounce Verdukianism!” is attributed to John Williams who wrote “Somewhere in My Memory” from the 1990 Christmas classic “Home Alone”)

Benny Capaul on “I Renounce Verdukianism!”:

“’Tis the season of disastrous relationships and crippling self-isolation, mixed with stretched-out and holey stockings overflowing with regret and jealousy. Deck the halls with subzero apartments and frostbitten appendages—‘I didn’t need those three fingers anyway!’
-Happy Holidays from The Boy Detective!”
