“Their ability to own the stage and work a crowd while delivering an even sharper, ballsier live sound is remarkable.” - LOUDER THAN WAR

“Little flecks of Blondie and Garbage and a touch of Pixies even maybe.” - FLUX

“Thunderous riffs, huge hooks and a singer oozing star quality makes these a must see new live act from Manchester.” - GIGZSLUTS

Pavé continues to set an example of how being a genre-fluid band in 2024 makes perfect sense with their new single, ‘nineteenfifty.’ Departing from the heavy riffs and fast-paced drum fills of their earlier '24 releases, Pavé ventures into a euphoric, dream-like soundscape, showcasing their musical and lyrical vulnerability.

Following the success of their leading singles from the upcoming EP, set for release this Autumn and supported by the likes of BBC Radio 1 and Radio X, Pavé has secured prominent stages at the Isle of Wight and Truck Festival. The band's eagerly awaited next release will drop on July 5th, 2024.

Artist Bio

Since forming in 2019, Pavé has swiftly carved a distinct musical identity, blending heavier influences from Yonaka, Bad Omens, and Royal Blood with their shoegaze origins. Their dynamic sound and captivating live performances alongside their knack for achieving their musical and community-driven goals have quickly propelled them into the spotlight, becoming a talked-about name in Manchester's music scene. Notably, they have supported acts like Bones UK and The Hara and are set to grace UK festivals in the summer of 2024, and earned acclaim from prestigious outlets like Clash Magazine, Planet Rock, Radio x and BBC Radio 1. As anticipation builds, Pavé gears up for the release of their 7-track EP, slated for autumn, promising an unpredictable yet enthralling musical journey.

nineteenfifty.

Known for their fearless experimentation with sound, this four-piece band delivers a sonically soothing track that captivates listeners, provoking deep reflection on life's desires. ‘nineteenfifty’ is a raw and unapologetic anthem, embodying the shape-shifting essence of modern alternative rock with a shoegaze twist.

This track builds upon the thematic groundwork laid in PAVÉ's previous releases, ‘THE END OF US’ and ‘SLOW MOVEMENTS’. Guitarist Kevin explains, the title references the year McCarthyism first swept across America. The song delves into the shift from physical battles on war fronts to mental battles fought through ideology and ways of living.

It reflects on a time not long ago when thinking differently from the accepted norm was a punishable offense. ‘nineteenfifty’ explores this historical context and questions if the battle for people's minds persists today. It challenges whether modern culture attempts to sedate individuals into conforming to a specific way of life.

The song speaks to the realization that, even after mentally escaping a constrained world, one remains physically and financially tied to it. Breaking free from this system is nearly impossible, as it shapes our ideologies and values from a young age. This theme is encapsulated in the lyrics, "Don't follow if we try," signifying the struggle to leave the world behind.

Within this system, we find passion, but once our eyes are opened, we realize we miss important aspects of life, such as family, nature, and overall well-being. These elements are overshadowed by the meaningless tasks and desires the system instills in us, like pursuing a career or acquiring material goods. The song draws parallels to McCarthyism in the USA, where different ways of thinking were punishable because they threatened control over minds, thoughts, desires, and needs.

This single sets the stage for PAVÉ's upcoming Autumn EP, promising a cohesive storytelling experience—a hallmark of the band's artistic vision.
