This week, beloved indie-mainstays Teleman kick off their UK tour & today share a video for Cherish. Cherish is a love song musing how the most painful relationships are often the most beautiful and memorable. Vocalist Tom Sanders explains;

“I write about the feeling of being swept away in something that’s uncontrollable. Something that’s foreign and unknown, something that’s probably bad but feels really good. Something that will definitely hurt later down the line.”

The video takes from a lyric in the song ‘the smile that melted the ice cream’ - using a makeshift green-screen set up in Tom Sanders’ garden on a brisk March morning.

“The image of an ice cream was the first thing I thought of when we were asked about making a video for Cherish. (taken from the lyric ‘the smile that melted the ice cream’)

Me and Jonny (brother and long-time collaborator) discussed what to put in the background: beaches, palm trees, some weird cgi stuff and the idea of using postcards evolved from this nostalgic holiday vibe. Jonny found a collection of amazing vintage postcards which became the backdrop to the performance. It’s a nice example of the video giving a whole other flavour to the song; the song itself becomes a kind of sung postcard.”
