SWEET UNREST TO RELEASE DEBUT VINYL SINGLE ON MAY 17
Some bands make music because they want to, Sweet Unrest make music because they have to.
Exhilarating, energetic, and emotional, the London-based indie-rock band are set for their first ever vinyl release on Friday May 17, featuring new single ‘Falling For You’ and the acclaimed track ‘Peace Of Mind’.
‘Falling For You’ is an unashamedly honest song about that feeling that everyone - no matter who they are or where they are from - has felt in their life. That spark of a connection. That hope for something more. That fear of unfulfilled desire.
Its universal appeal cements Sweet Unrest as the next in that long line of great Bands of the People - from the Rolling Stones to the Who, from Oasis to the Libertines.
The band may call London its home, but its members come from across England, the US, and Pakistan.
Speaking about ‘Falling For You’, lead singer Jack River said: “We’re humans, and everyone derives love from different places, but the most common way to derive love is from a person.
"That’s what this song is about. The end of the song echoes that sense of falling apart together as well. It’s a cacophony and that’s what falling in love can be like.”
He added: “I think art is about sharing something you’ve felt, or you’ve observed, to make a connection – that’s what a painting is for, that’s what a poem does, that’s what a song can and should do, and when we play ‘Falling For You’ live, that happens with this tune.”
Drummer Dani Jamil said: “It’s all about liberation. A feeling of release. That’s why there’s so much passion and energy in this song.”
The song will be released on physical format by No Distance Records, in what is a first vinyl pressing for the London label.
“We’ve been watching Sweet Unrest play across London for the past year, and this song is just the ultimate singalong. Putting this song out as our first 7” vinyl release is very much part of our ethos to be a label of the people and for the people,” said No Distance Records’ co-founder Owen Bennett.
The record will be stocked in shops across London, including Rough Trade in Brick Lane, Dash the Henge in Camberwell, and Casbah Records in Greenwich.
The group will support the single with a tour taking in London, Cambridge, Colchester and Brighton.
