Dec. 6, 2023 – Philadelphia, PA – Welcome to a new era of Sweet Pill. After inking a deal with Hopeless Records in 2023, the Philly rockers have been quietly preparing their next EP, and it’s due time for the world to hear it. The band unveiled an all new track, Chewed Up, on Dec. 6, and announced their forthcoming EP will arrive on March 15, 2024. The band has been garnering attention left and right with their infectious hooks and raucous anthems, and after an epic 2023 touring with bands like The Wonder Years, and Hail The Sun, they’re now prepping their own 2024 headlining tour. With the new EP, fans can expect Sweet Pill’s most masterful (and vulnerable) work yet, with a collection of songs which vocalist Zayna Youssef says is “an introspective look at battling anxieties.” And whether you’re a new fan, or a day one supporter, one thing’s for sure: the band is one of the most promising and flourishing punk acts of the moment. The band’s buzz even caught the ears of Hayley Williams, who included their single “High Hopes” as one of her favorite tracks during her interview on BBC podcast ‘Everything Is Emo.’
STARCHILD TRACK LIST
1. Starchild
2. Chewed Up
3. Eternal
4. Sympathy
Sweet Pill’s Zayna Youssef Shares of the new music:
“The EP Starchild as a whole takes an introspective look at battling anxieties, your inner voice, and the world that always seems so against you. “Where The Heart Is” was written when I as well as Jayce, Ryan, Chris, and Sean were discovering life after college. We were existing in such a transitional time full of big changes. Personally, this EP is a reflection of where these changes have brought me: Over-worked and unsure of myself and what matters anymore. The song “Starchild” is an ode to selling myself short and not valuing my own self worth. I’m at a time in my life where I find myself “people pleasing” everyone but myself. Then I’m burdened with the pressure of letting everyone down. Ultimately, that leads to my own personal downfall.
“Chewed Up” follows “Starchild” and is musically much more in-your-face. Sort of like the intrusive thoughts that keep you up wide-eyed in bed at night. Different from the opening track, “Chewed Up” is a plea to say what I mean and to ask for what I want. To make that step in the direction of valuing my own self worth and pulling out of my personal downfall. The hard part is- when the moment comes, can you speak up?”

ABOUT SWEET PILL:
Sweet Pill has a style earmarked by an earnest ingenuity that many young artists are quick to romanticize and aspire to but slow to cultivate and execute. It takes time. For singer Zayna Youssef, guitarists Jayce Williams and Sean McCall, bassist Ryan Cullen, and drummer Chris Kearney, however, their 5 years together have seen their hard work rewarded tenfold in half as long as it would take almost anyone else. “Since releasing their debut album, Where The Heart Is, in 2022"
, Sweet Pill forged a storied path leading to this moment: the start of a new era; their first EP release with new label home, Hopeless Records.
