Streamer share single ‘Time Flies By’

Three-piece cross-generational band STREAMER, from Scotland and Kent, define an entirely new genre they call ‘indie trance’ by blending layered vocals, gripping guitar hooks, and riffs with dance and trance electronica. They offer a fresh soundscape that encompasses all genres, and their live delivery is a heart-pumping, sing-along crowd-pleaser for all ages. STREAMER have developed their skills over many years - two of the three are in their 50’s - and their shows brim with energy and musicality honed from playing to large audiences.

STREAMER returns with their latest single ‘Time Flies By’, slated for release on all streaming platforms on 12 July 2024. The track is about making time to do things you love,‘Time flies by when you feel this high!’ This new single is super dramatic and yet another step up - STREAMER are taking things to the next level.

The song is inspired by band member Tom’s step back from corporate life and inordinate time spent commuting, to focus more time on his passion for music. Time Flies By tells the story of a man and then a woman reflecting on how precious time is, and how they want to spend it. The sentiments chime with the modern day, post pandemic, reflection that many people of all ages battle with.

Typical of STREAMER, the track features a rich combination of organic and production instrumentation that build from a dark, atmospheric, ‘Floydian’ start to huge drops and riffs. The vocal texture is gripping and musically you can hear classical influences from the start that intertwine with modern electronica synth-play and searing guitar work.

Comprising Tom (vocals, guitars, and keys), Jez (bass, BVs, and keys), and Tom’s son Freddie (drums and percussion), the three-piece are fast making a name for themselves as a live act to seek out after their successful first performance album and tour of ‘Dare To’ and their last release ‘Possessify’.

Instrumentally, Tom uses a Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 guitar through a Line 6 Helix. Jez uses a Warwick Infinity bass guitar through a Line 6 Helix along with an Ableton Push. Production drums, percussion and multiple midi instruments were developed using Ableton and a variety of plug-ins. Freddie uses Roland e-drums and an Ableton Push.

On the release, STREAMER says, “‘Time Flies By’ is about self-awakening and courage. Do the things you love, ‘Time flies by when you feel this high!’

Time Flies By lyrics

Dark dawn on a platform in the rain

Been feeling down he’s gotta get-back-up again

The years he spent on the way to a desk

He can’t claw back it’s like a weight on his chest

He’s got to make or take the space he needs

To breath, rise, see, and dare to feel

He lost his soul on the Netflix train

Time to reignite, and light the flame

Late again, on a call that’s ending soon

But she’s gotta pay the piper to play the tune

The years she spent, getting to this place

She can’t claw back, nor the lines on her face

And the more she tried, the less she shone

Like chasing waves that’ve already gone

She lost her soul on the Netflix train

Time to reignite and light the flame

You’ve got live the life you need

Gotta breath in life to see

The joy and love to feel

But time flies by at the weekends

You’ve got live the life you need

Gotta breath in life to see

‘Cos it’s now that time is real

(And) Time flies by when you feel this high
