Strange Plants’ latest single, “Dance So Real,” takes listeners on a psychedelic rock journey, blending emotional depth with expansive musical landscapes. The track moves through riff-laden verses and trippy dream sequences before building to a soaring, no-holds-barred outro. Inspired by the raw energy of love at first sight, “Dance So Real” captures a moment of pure connection that marks the beginning of something lasting.

Produced by Rob Crowell (Sturgill Simpson, Midland), mixed by Josh Van Tassel (Rose Cousins, Bahamas, Donovan Woods), and mastered by John Baldwin (Brian Eno), the track showcases the band’s commitment to a vintage, analog sound. Recorded at Nashville’s legendary Creative Workshop Studio, “Dance So Real” marks a standout moment in the band’s debut album, setting the tone for the rest of the record.

Dance So Real” is taken from Strange Plants’ forthcoming self-titled debut album, due out later this year.

Dance So Real” was inspired by the first time I met my partner – which happened to be on the dance floor at a local bar. She was dancing like the world around her had disappeared, and I couldn’t take my eyes off her. The song is about that raw freedom that comes from allowing your true, uninhibited self to shine through.  You don’t see it often, but I saw it in her that night. – vocalist/guitarist Travis Flint

Just observe them, they’re never done

Strange Plants was born from the creative partnership of Travis Flint and Matt Brannon, former members of the Halifax alt-country collective Hot Mondy. Their debut album channels influences from iconic acts like Pink Floyd and Supertramp, while embracing the sounds of modern musicians like MGMT and Jack White.

Recorded over eight intense days at Creative Workshop Studio, the album captures the band’s commitment to analog warmth, minimal digital interference, and creating a timeless sound. Strange Plants’ unique blend of psychedelic rock with authentic vintage influences is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.
