“A Glasgow punk band with a penchant for chaos”

Glasgow based punk band SOAPBOX announce their new single ‘Private Public Transport’, due out on the 15th of January. Of the single, frontman Tom explains:

‘I wrote it while riding a nextbike in the pishing rain cos the 2 bus hadn’t showed up’.

‘Private Public Transport’ is a follow-up to the band’s punchy first single, “Value Added Glasgow’ released March of last year, followed by the gritty, energetic “Mad Jungle Beat”. Pulling from influences like The Damned to Soft Play, Amyl And The Sniffers and Viagra Boys, the band say they’re primarily influenced by life experience, “we all come from quite different areas and have all worked a lot of shite jobs. So we draw from a lot of the frustrations we find from just getting on with life.”

The band formed when Aidan (guitar) posted an advert for a punk band and Tom (frontman) was the only person to respond. They were then joined by twins Jenna (drums) and Angus (bass). For the future of their music, SOAPBOX explain that:

“We all have a severe praise kink so as long as people keep listening, we’re happy.”

SOAPBOX are Infamous for their energetic and raucous live shows, they regularly feature on ‘ones to watch’ lists and have received considerable praise from outlets such as Tenement TV, Fanatic Insider and Glasgow World.

Initially playing any venue they could get their hands on, including cricket clubs around the West coast of Scotland; SOAPBOX have gone on to sell out every headline they have played so far. Their career highlights currently include playing the chaotic final farewell night at the legendary Priory Bar alongside SNASH, a sold out show opening for American punk-rock heavyweights Screaming Females, selling out their headline show at King Tuts last year and supporting the mighty Dead Pony on the Scottish leg of their sold out tour.
