Regarding headlining Wembley Arena for the first time, singer Benji Webbe says:“Standing on that stage is a mark of sheer hard work.We have stood upon that stage supporting many truly great acts. Now it’s Skindred’s time to take the headline slot.
You may think you’ve seen us, however this is our opportunity to rise, and to step up like never before!
My Sound we come to take over and truly come to rock Wembley with a heart full of gratitude and a set full of the most rockin’ tunes that we have ever played live. Unity, love and togetherness. Let’s ‘ave it. Quadruple XL.”
The announcement comes ahead of the release ofSmileon Friday (August 4th) via Earache Records. Already receiving great critical praise,Smileis being hailed as Skindred’s best work yet. It is a potent and mind-expanding collection of songs channelling a huge range of styles from reggae to metal, rock to pop, dub to electro, designed to melt stereos around the world. It is available to pre-orderhere.
Recorded in the midst of the pandemic, Skindred worked with producer Julian Emery, whose work with Nothing But Thieves illustrated his adeptness with dynamics and melodies. The songs released to date fromSmile– which also include ‘L.O.V.E (Smile Please)’, ‘Unstoppable’, ‘Gimme That Boom’, ‘Set Fazers’ and ‘If I Could’ – demonstrate the breadth, range and fun to be had in the songs on the album.
“Skindred, after 25 years in the game, are still one of the most admired on the heavy live circuit. Their blend of ragga with metal is the kind of thing that makes hipsters implode with snobbery but will electrify everyone else.”
The Guardian
“A record that truly mirrors the euphoric abandon of their legendary gigs… If this isn’t the banger-packed, life-affirming soundtrack to everybody’s summer, then something has gone terribly, terribly wrong”
Classic Rock 9/10
“There’s a respectable bravery throughout. [Skindred] have a vision for peace and love powerful enough to transcend the borders of metal”
Metal Hammer
Ahead of next year’s shows, Skindred will be touring venues across the country throughout October/November in support ofSmile. Many of the dates are sold out, with just a few shows with limited tickets remaining. For tickets & more details go to www.skindred.net/#live
