SINGLE REVIEW: Tube Amp’d - Same in the End
Upon listening to Sublime 'Same in the End' for the first time, I stumbled upon a lively ska punk tune with elements of 2-tone and the melodic charm of pop punk. This discovery sparked my curiosity to explore more of Sublime's music.
Tube Amp'd tackled the cover admirably. While staying true to the original, they injected their own flair with slightly rawer, more DIY-sounding vocals. The instrumentation remained almost identical to the original track.
Their cover serves as a respectful tribute to Sublime's infectious beats and danceable tones of this much loved 90's tune without attempting to reinvent the track. Recently, they closed out a recent set at the Whisky A Go Go with this cover, and although I generally have reservations about bands including covers in their sets, from listening to the live recording this performance proved to be a lively crowd-pleaser finale.
In summary, while I have a preference for originals, I found enjoyment in this cover and appreciate the introduction it provided to Sublime's music. I look forward to exploring more of their catalogue. As for Tube Amp'd these lads have passion and enthusiasm pulsing through their veins, it's clear to see they always approach everything with their all and have a damn good time in the process.
