SINGLE REVIEW: The DiVision – Run N Hide

The DiVision may only have formed in Leeds in October 2023, but ‘Run n hide’ already shows real strength and intent. It begins with a hazy, ambient swell that builds tension before crashing drums and driving guitars tear through the atmosphere. There’s a boldness in the instrumentation that feels confident and deliberate, giving the track a solid backbone from the outset.

The vocals are raw and unpolished, but in a way that works completely in the song’s favour. There’s something deeply likeable about the slightly off-filter moments—because behind them is a tone full of grit, sincerity, and unbridled passion. You can tell there’s nothing performative about it. It’s not about chasing perfection, it’s about getting the emotion across—and that honesty cuts through.

Throughout the track, the energy shifts from rhythmic control to something more unruly and gritty. It keeps things unpredictable without losing direction. The female backing vocals add depth and contrast, and there’s a clear opportunity to explore that interplay even further in future releases. The dynamic between their voices has real potential to become a defining feature of their sound.

That said, it’s a stellar offering from this young Leeds outfit. The instrumentation is commanding, the structure is solid, and the vocal delivery—rough edges and all—adds charm and personality. There’s clear potential here, not just in their sound, but in the way they’re already blending textures and tones. A strong start, with plenty of room to grow.
