SINGLE REVIEW: Springworks - Rest Stop Painter

The latest single 'Rest Stop Painter' from Canada's Springworks is giving me some serious early Belle and Sebastian vibes.

Flying high with its hazy ethereal warmth and laid-back 90's sound. The track combines accessible, yet experimental musical intricacies to deliver an immersive tapestry of hypnotic, sun-laced sounds topped with delicate, captivating vocals.

Collaging together a disarray of thoughts and ponderings. Reminiscing back to the time you passed a wayward mural sprawled on the side of a derelict building and your mind momentarily wondered who the painter was.

The erratic sounds of random trumpets, flamboyant strings, scratchy guitars, twinkling piano, and slightly off-key drums mirror the jumble of thoughts magnificently. It's a soundscape of a mind drifting off into its own world, filled with paintings, colours, and wondrous imagery. It injects emotion into something so many would pass by and not notice.

'Rest Stop Paint' is a majestic whirlpool of disoriented, mesmerising sunny sounds with a warming, calm energy.
