SINGLE REVIEW: Sophia Sheth - My Felicity/My Felicity (acoustic)

I'm usually sceptical when pop songs are submitted, as they typically aren't my vibe, but Chicago teen Sophia Sheth's 'My Felicity' is genuinely stunning. It's incredibly sweet, boasting a charming and mainstream pop melody with soft, engulfing synths that add a dreamy layer and an element of fragility.

Sophia's vocals are nothing short of exceptional, and within their sweet purity and innocence, there's an added edgy wisdom and dynamic twist. This appeals even to someone like me who appreciates a bit of grit and depth in their music.

The lyrics eloquently narrate a message not to underestimate the youth; despite not having as many years of life behind them, they possess a wisdom that older generations may overlook. Her songwriting is undoubtedly wise beyond her years, adding a layer of maturity to the track's pop landscape.

Sophia's vocal performance feels sincerely authentic, conveying a belief in the music she's creating rather than merely paying lip service to the music industry to shift units.

The acoustic version takes on a beautiful and delicate quality, leaning more towards an indie or dream pop stance. It showcases another dimension of the song, further highlighting Sophia's versatility and talent.
