SINGLE REVIEW: Moon Phase - Cicada

Wow! I can't remember the last time a track hit me quite like the new single 'Cicada' from Houston's Moon Phase. As the elegant, haunting intro bursts into life I felt my heart jump into my throat like a rabbit bolting at the sound of gunfire. The impact of the sudden change in tempo is almost enough to evoke tears for no explicable reason. Powerful and emotional, I'm left startled and unsettled by how much something so simple affected me.

As shoegaze combines with the fuzzed-up nature of grunge there's something gut-wrenchingly beautiful about 'Cicada'. It completely took my breath away. Pounding drums team with chiming riffs and distorted bass as the earthy, harrowing vocals complete the lineup.

'Cicada' is a song epic in its magnitude. It radiates emotion and pours with pain as it blasts with a disarray of chaos and confusion. It's a stunning cacophony of sounds, tones, and tempo changes.

It will hit you right in the feelings leaving you with a deep, uneasy sense of vulnerability. Moon Phase are special, they take the listener to places they don't want to go with their passionate, thought-provoking sound. 'Cicada' is a stunning soundscape of atmospheric trudging lows and bellowing exploding highs. Some of the most instantly impactful music I've ever heard. Put your headphones on, close your eyes, and let the music overpower your soul.

Absolutely incredible!
