SINGLE REVIEW: Love Ghost - Left on Read

As much as I enjoy immersing myself in pop-heavy pop-punk with youthful themes, 'Left on Read' feels more tailored to 20-somethings than to my approaching 40-year-old self. This song, with a distinct pop-punk essence but a heavier pop influence, emerges as a fitting anthem for the Gen Z crowd.

Lyrically, it delves into themes of lost love, self-deprecating thoughts, and the dynamics of disrespect in relationships. The combination of Love Ghost's accents of hopelessness and vulnerability, contrasted with Whiplash's more hostile, anger-fueled raps, effectively conveys a spectrum of emotions within various situations.

Musically, it delivers a fast-paced, skater-like sound reminiscent of early 2010s pop-punk, akin to bands like All Time Low or Get Up Kids. It's a catchy noise with hooks that are infectiously engaging, carrying a melodic, vibrant spirit.

'Left on Read' is an angst-driven, youthful listen that will undoubtedly resonate with the younger generation still navigating the emotional rollercoaster of love, although it may not strike as deep a chord with older, more cynical ears.
