SINGLE REVIEW: Hey Gorgeous - Dropping Direct

I find myself thoroughly captivated by the high-energy and playful sound of ‘Dropping Direct’. The infectious and melodic quality, coupled with the hooky guitars, creates an entrancing musical experience that stays with you. The band adeptly addresses the current state of the music industry, offering a critique of the mindless production of generic pop designed solely for commercial gain and conformity.

The defiance expressed in the line "I'll handle my shit my way" is truly admirable, embodying the determination often seen in underground artists who prioritise doing things on their terms, even if it means eschewing commercial success. The authenticity to stay true to the music they want to make is commendable, and it shines through in every note.

The drums, with their bright and splashy quality, add an additional layer of dynamic energy to the track, enhancing its overall impact. ‘Dropping Direct’ resonates with me on multiple levels, and I genuinely appreciate the band's style; a delightful blend of the DIY ethos of garage rock and the raw energy of punk.

I'm Amy a Norfolk girl, currently residing at the seaside.

Age: eternally 21 (I’m really Peter Pan!).

By day I'm a Leaks, Condensation, Damp and Mould Resident Liaison Officer and by night I'm CRB's admin bitch, reviewer extraordinaire, point and hope for the best photographer, paperclip monitor and expert at breaking anything technical then expecting Scott to fix it!

I'm into all kinds of music the more obscure the better (my music taste is definitely better than yours 🤪😜) with my fave band being The Wonder Years.

I'm an Ipswich Town fan and have an unhealthy obsession with hedgehogs!
