SINGLE REVIEW: Don Sechelski - Room Full of Memories

I'm a big fan of Don Sechelski's music, even though it may not typically fall within my usual sound palette. The way he delivers his stories is simply spellbinding. I can feel the sincerity in every word and the pure heartfelt passion in their delivery. Don has a wonderfully raw voice and an enchantingly rolling sound. 'Room of Memories' feels like a true journey through life's trials and tribulations.

The religious element of this tune is highly impactful, while the front-facing narrative tells a dark story of retribution as a former altar boy waits to confront the priest who abused him. Using his own and a former altar boy's memories, Don portrays this dark tale with realistic honesty. Beyond the macabre subject matter, 'Room of Memories' also opens up other more common thoughts about religion, highlighting that for many who seek solace in their faith, it often raises more questions and feelings of betrayal than it provides comfort.

Don is an incredibly captivating musician; the spareness of 'Room of Memories' really allows the song's true meaning to be heard. He is also a magnificent, empathic songwriter. His tunes are pure class. Even if, like me, the rolling Americana sound isn't normally your thing, I urge you to give Don's music a try, I think you'll be surprised.
