SINGLE REVIEW: Diamond Country Dance Club - Pretty Drunk

Diamond Country Dance Club are a 4-piece Indie band from St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Since 2021, they have been combining elements of rock, pop and post-punk to create a contemporary, unique brand of modern indie rock.

Having spent the last year regularly playing the local music circuit across East Anglia and The Midlands, Diamond Country Dance Club recorded their debut single "Didn't tell Jonny" in December 2022 at Half-Ton Studios in Cambridge. With influences ranging from Arctic Monkeys and The Reytons to Fontaine's DC and Idles, Diamond Country Dance Club are proud to showcase their ever-growing catalogue of original material, having recently performed at Esquires in Bedford and Club 85 in Hitchin.

Off the back of the release of their first single, the band are now looking to perform their new original material in the run-up to the release of their self-titled debut EP later this year.

‘Pretty Drunk’ is the pinnacle of nightlife in the UK from all thoughts, feelings and shenanigans on a night out. It is a catchy, snappy and straight-to- the-point track. Entering with some rumbling drums and low end dirt-grunge bass playing a rather playful riff, Then accompanied with a country-esque guitar solo and fuzzy garage rhythm guitars.

It almost has a surfer vibe and bounce to the song, I can guarantee it is to get a crowd hyped and dancing!  Additionally, in the digital matter, it surely will get stuck in your head both lyrically and musically. The bass line is such a grounding and iconic driving force in this. Vocals are clean and natural that fits the indie style, particularly easy to sing along.

I just want to also comment on the hilarious album art portraying a cross over of modern photography and traditional painting of Jesus being carried away depicting him as a drunk. Quite a witty statement.

Overall a very fun, simple structured playful track. It’s so addictive that It will be the anthem of anyone’s night drunk or sober! I see a trend in style and cover art styles of which anticipates EP so hopefully we will hear more of this fun loving band!

Kempsey

Hi, I'm Kempsey, I'm 24 years old. I studied photography in college however, I then studied a further 2 years in college for Music and went to Uni for Music performance and my final year was adjusted after COVID to complete a Creative Industries Degree. Doot doot 🎉 Graduate 🎉 Met some important people during my studying so I got a little industry insight.

I'm now a coffee barista by day ☕ and on the odd night I'm visiting some local gigs and venues.

I'm always listening to music everywhere I go, I'm sure we can all agree it's a life line. ☺️ I'm heavily Into metalcore, grunge, pop-punk, some indie, my taste also varies.

Slowly saving up the cash for some better gear to get out there and shoot.

Got my Ticket for Download this year (2023) which is super exciting ! ✨
