SINGLE REVIEW: Daffodildos - No Pride

Brighton's queertrans punk trio, Daffodildos, have released their debut single 'No Pride,' showcasing their distinct blend of energetic punk and sharp social commentary. The song, released through indie label Not Saints, addresses the commercialisation of Pride events, challenging the use of rainbow flags by corporations that offer little support to the LGBTQIA+ community beyond surface-level gestures.

Lead singer and guitarist Emily Flea delivers a raw vocal performance, supported by Annie von Flange's driving drums and Captain Jax's solid bass lines and brassy backing vocals. 'No Pride' stands out as a raucous punk anthem, with its unapologetic lyrics and fast-paced instrumentation capturing the spirit of early punk. Daffodildos make it clear that while Pride may be a time for celebration, it is also a time to remember the ongoing struggles faced by the community. The track is both a call to action and a reminder of the genuine meaning behind Pride.
