SINGLE REVIEW: Counterpart - The Chain

Counterpart brings a fierce, hard-hitting twist to Fleetwood Mac’s classic anthem ‘The Chain,’ turning the timeless track into something uniquely their own. Known for their high-energy sound, the New York-based rock band injects raw power into every note, transforming the track into a modern-day hard rock anthem while staying true to the original’s emotional depth.

The band’s take is heavy and unapologetic, with Nick Sumner’s commanding vocals leading the charge. There’s a real intensity in their version—where Fleetwood Mac’s original had a smooth, almost mystical quality, Counterpart’s rendition is gritty, amplified, and electrifying. The rhythm section pounds beneath soaring guitars, adding a fresh layer of urgency and drive.

Rather than simply recreating a classic, Counterpart manages to make the song feel entirely new. Their hard rock spin honours the spirit of the original, while cranking up the energy and emotion, giving it a new sense of life. It’s a bold reimagining that stands on its own, offering a thrilling ride for both long-time fans of the track and newcomers alike.
