SINGLE REVIEW: Brenden Starr - Cool

To review Brenden Starr's cover of Dua Lipa's 'Cool,' I first ventured out of my musical comfort zone and listened to the original. I must admit, I don't like it – it feels overly commercial, clearly designed solely for sales, and lacks depth and emotion. This marked my first encounter with Dua Lipa, and I can confidently say it will be my last.

Jake has achieved something quite rare by crafting a cover that surpasses the original, delivering the lyrics with significantly more emotion. Infusing 'Cool' with a dynamic rock edge, it incorporates robust riffs and lively, vibrant drums, complemented by warm, subtle synths that introduce a layer of EDM, making the sound appealing to a wide range of music enthusiasts.

Brenden's voice possesses a charming quality, a beautiful pop-infused tone that effortlessly handles the more intense moments. It exudes a dreamy yet powerful aura and a likeable nature.

In summary, Brenden has executed an exceptional job with his cover, infusing it with a personal touch that Dua Lipa's version lacked. However, I couldn't help but wish for an original track. Brenden's evident talent and passion would shine even brighter if he were delivering self-penned lyrics.
