SINGLE REVIEW: After Us All – 6 Feet Under

After Us All deliver a commanding burst of melodic heavy rock with ‘6 Feet Under’, a track that fuses metal muscle with cinematic ambition and hook-laden finesse. Opening with a futuristic shimmer, it wastes no time plunging into beefy, driving riffs that hit with real purpose. There’s a slickness to the production, but it never dulls the track’s edge. The bassline rumbles with weight and intent, while the drums move with dynamic precision—never static, always pushing and pulling to maximise tension.

Vocally, Céline Himmer is a force. Her voice soars with a grandeur that calls to mind symphonic rock’s towering peaks, but there’s grit in the delivery too—a certain 80s powerpop bite that cuts through the mix and gives the chorus its pulse. It’s a performance that balances strength with nuance, dramatic without tipping into excess. Her voice floats one moment and bites the next, keeping things unpredictable in the best possible way.

What makes ‘6 Feet Under’ really shine is how confidently it straddles genres. There’s a pop sensibility running through it—infectious melodies, big choruses—but it’s wrapped in the crunch and scale of heavy rock. The band lean into this duality without hesitation. It’s heady and hedonistic, but still feels grounded and meticulously arranged. The instrumental interlude deserves its own mention: a screaming, soaring guitar solo that doesn’t just show off—it adds emotional heft, bursting with hunger and yearning.

There’s a creative fire here, a sense of something both theatrical and fiercely personal. The track captures that rare mix of ambition and authenticity, built on tight musicianship and a clear vision. After Us All aren’t reinventing the genre, but they’re lighting it up with fresh energy and a distinctly confident voice. ‘6 Feet Under’ is majestic, adrenalised, and ready to shake the walls down.
