SINGLE REVIEW: 93FEETOFSMOKE - conversations
Based in Los Angeles, emo-rap artist 93FEETOFSMOKE recently shared his new single “conversations,” from his forthcoming album, SUCKER.
'conversations' is like a silk wrapped razor blade. On one hand a glorious melodic, catchy dose of anthemic pop punk while on the other a harrowing, painful set of lyrics about feelings of loneliness and worthlessness.
The track may only be 2 minutes long but 93FEETOFSMOKE has packed a lot in. Starting out dreamy, soft and emotional 'conversations' mounts into fast paced pop punk with frantic energy, epic hooks and attention demanding drums. It mellows into the verse for an angst driven outcry of intense pain before battling into the smooth, epic chorus. Bursting with a growl of frustrated metalcore to end.
The lyrics are where 'coverstations' really cuts. Themes of self doubt and self disgust. The inability to escape ones own mind filled with torture of thoughts and unattainable expectations. A spinning head from a brain that can't be silenced. Selling yourself short and doubting whether you deserve all you've achieved. 93FEETOFSMOKE's words are so powerful and his delivery so brutal and honest. The lyric stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away a little.
'conversations' is an infectious, anthemic pop punk eruption with powerhouse vocals and first class songwriting. This is my first encounter with 93FEETOFSMOKE but I'm certain it won't be my last.
