After wrapping up a sold out 33-date European Summer tour, Simply Red today release a superb single mix of ‘It Wouldn’t Be Me’, taken from their latest album Time.

A stunning, melodic love song, ‘It Wouldn’t Be Me’ tells the story of a woman who has escaped her difficult past, meets someone and falls in love. “I don’t write stories very often” says Hucknall of the song, “but it’s about a girl who is scared of what she used to be. The narrator of the song loves her despite her past and isn’t gonna give up on her”.

Time was received with unanimous and emphatic praise by the media. Clash Magazine branded it “another stellar example of a perfectly-crafted pop-soul album”, with Retropop Magazine declaring it as “an essential record”, and Record Collector noting that “Time is arguably the singer's (Mick Hucknall)’s most personal work to date”.

With a career spanning 12 studio albums as Simply Red (five of them Number Ones), two solo albums, back-to-back ASCAP Most Performed Song honours (1987 and 1988) for Holding Back The Years, consecutive Brit Awards (1992 and 1993) for Best British Group, a Brit for Best British Male (1993), the 1997 MOBO for Outstanding Achievement, two Ivor Novellos (1992 Songwriter of the Year; 2002 Outstanding Song Collection), some 60 million album sales, 1.8 billion streams across all streaming platforms worldwide, and over 1 million YouTube subscribers, Mick is ready to continue the ride into the next chapter.

After celebrating with a very special one-off launch show at London’s O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire back in June, and playing a host of European Summer shows this year, the band will return to the UK to play BBC Radio 2’s sold out ‘Live In The Park’ on September 17th in Leicester’s Victoria Park.
