Sheffield Indie Rockers CRUZ Return With Swaggering Slice of Indie 'Take Off the Pressure'
CRUZ - 'Take Off the Pressure'
(Released Friday 1st September 2023)
Hailing from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, CRUZ are a four-piece Indie band that take their cues both from the rich musical heritage of their hometown and from across the annals of indie rock. The result is a multifaceted band keen to showcase their idiosyncratic sound, and expand the horizons of the indie scene.
Since the release of their debut single ‘Life of Misery’ back in June 2022, the four piece have earned crucial early acclaim from both fans and critics alike, but it’s not just on record in which the band have turned heads however.
Building on the success of that debut, CRUZ have been honing their sound and captivating audiences with their high-energy live shows at various venues and festivals both across their native Sheffield, and further afield. Notable highlights include supporting Matilda Shakes at Sheffield's iconic Leadmill and YNOT? Festival.
Now the band are looking ahead to the release of their next single ‘Take Off the Pressure’. Three and a half minutes of driving guitars and clattering percussion, it's a succinct slice of swaggering indie that certainly has echoes of Sheffield greats such as Arctic Monkeys, but also bands such as The Kinks.
"The song ‘Take Off the Pressure’ tells the story of a man and woman who have stressful lives and are being told to take a step back and relax,” the band explain. “It’s about helping people who seem like they are struggling whether that be physically or mentally.”
A bold statement of intent from the South Yorkshire quartet, and one that carries a message everyone could do with paying attention too. And with more to come as we the year progresses, you can expect to see alot more from CRUZ very soon.
