Sephine Llo Shares Hopeful Final Single "Deciduous Love," a Tribute to Her Late Husband and Inspired by Her Child, from Forthcoming Album Diamond Fall Out This Friday

Sephine Llo unveils ‘Deciduous Love,’ the third and final single from her deeply personal upcoming album Diamond Fall, out this week, on October 25th—the day that would have marked her 10th wedding anniversary with her late husband, Robert Lloyd-Wilson, frontman of Autumn Chorus, to whom the album is dedicated.

Building on the acclaim of earlier singles “All Time Low” and “Rest With Me,” which received airplay across BBC radio from figures such as Stuart Maconie, Deb Grant, Tom Ravenscroft, Gideon Coe, Elizabeth Alker, as well as John Kennedy on Radio X and Max Reinhardt on Soho Radio, among many others, “Deciduous Love” closes the album on a hopeful note. Reflecting on the single, Sephine shares:

“‘Deciduous Love’ is predominantly an ode of gratitude to our son. I truly believe that without being pregnant when Robbie passed, I wouldn’t still be here. Laurie was my hero before he was even born. The lyrics also express the pride I felt for the unwavering love and care I gave Robbie throughout his two years of gruelling cancer treatment and in his final days. I never left his side and insisted on being one of his pallbearers, with our little seed in my womb keeping me strong. The recurring lyric ‘you saved me’ is something Robbie said to me once, in tears. Although his body was succumbing to the cancer, he felt that we had, in our own way, won—our love and the promise of our child brought him true happiness.

In the atmospherics of the track, Sephine incorporated time-stretched samples from one of Robert’s songs, ‘Snake In The Grass’ by Autumn Chorus, which he concluded with the lyric, ‘thank you light, I have come to joy.’ She also included a sweet piano lullaby discovered on his hard drive titled ‘Boy Rescued.’”

Following the death of her husband Robert Lloyd-Wilson (of Autumn Chorus) in 2016 while she was pregnant with their first child, Sephine Llo found it difficult to express her grief musically. She recalls, “The first time I sat down at a piano after he was gone, I just stared at the keys in silence for hours and then broke down. I couldn’t touch an instrument for over a year.” Discovering Robert’s old demos rekindled her creative drive, leading to the deeply personal Diamond Fall. Written, recorded, produced, and mixed by Llo, the album is both a tribute to her late husband and a testament to her healing journey. The artwork, depicting two linked black holes and tree symbolises her loss and the hope brought by their child.

Sephine Llo, known for her rich soundscapes and ethereal vocals, returns with Diamond Fall after a hiatus due to bereavement and single motherhood. The album offers an unapologetically honest exploration of grief and recovery, reflecting Llo’s unique blend of haunting orchestration and emotional depth. Diamond Fall not only marks her return but also stands as a powerful testament to resilience and artistic expression through profound personal trials.

Sephine will be playing a series of live shows, including a special album launch on October 25th at Nutfield Church of St Peter & St Paul, the very place where she and Robert were married. Proceeds from this performance will be donated to Kidscan Children’s Cancer Research.
