New Town are an emerging alternative guitar band hailing from the rain sodden streets of Glasgow. They create uplifting indie-pop tracks, hung around danceable guitar riffs, emotional lyricism and passionate vocals.

The rising indie guitar outfit kicked off their year with a sold out headline show at the iconic King Tut's Wah Wah Hut. It was this that lead them to a support slot with Dundee rockers Shambolics at the Glasgow Garage. The band released their first single of the year, Main Street, landing their first Spotify editorial playlist and are now looking ahead to a smattering of forthcoming live shows, including an appearance at Glasgow’s SWG3, and the hotly anticipated Tenatment Trail Festival.

“‘Twenty Something’ was developed from Kieran encouraging one of his pals to write a book called Twenty Something,” the band explains. “He has a very unique way of looking at life, which he somehow manages to get you to agree with. Anyway, the book never happened and as such, we wrote a song about it”.

“Being in your twenties is hard and I think everyone gets that general feeling of wanting to have it figured out at each point along the way” NewTown continue.  “I think the song explores the reality of being in your twenties and realising that no matter where you are or who you are; your hometown, friends and family are really why you stick around. I think the main message is be sad, be happy, live the plot, have that night out, and be twenty something.”

Indeed, three minutes of soaring, emotionally charged indie rock, ‘Twenty Something’ lifts listeners up as much as its narrative resonates with them.  With echoes of blue-collar songwriters such as Sam Fender or even Bruce Springsteen only serving to elevate the track, and indeed Newtown themselves, head and shoulders above their contemporaries.

NewTown are:

David James (Vocals, Guitar)

Kieran Smith (Writer Guitar)

Rob Haggerty (Bass)

Euan Mcalonan (Drums)
