Acclaimed musician and actor Sam Palladio has released his brand new single, ‘Tennessee’, which features Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett on lead guitar.
“What Chris did was a perfect blend of his crunchy Foos thing, with a little bit of his chicken-picking country guitar, because his sensibilities are country, and he loves that world,”explains Sam.
“I’m stoked that Sam asked me to throw down some guitar on ‘Tennessee’,”adds Chris. “We’ve been friends for years and have played shows together, so I was more than happy to add a little solo on the track.”
The brilliant video for ‘Tennessee’ pays homage to Sam’s parallel career as an actor. Based on the set of an imaginary spaghetti western movie, with Candice King (Vampire Diaries) starring opposite Sam as the female lead, it also features ex-Nashvilleco-star Jonathan Jackson as the director and US singer-songwriter & producer (PINK, Fall Out Boy, Green Day) Butch Walker as Sam’s villainous adversary.
The Cornish singer and multi-instrumentalist has enjoyed a whirlwind career since he originally shot to fame in America, playing the character of Gunnar Scott in the American TV series Nashville. With many acting roles under his belt Sam most recently hit the big screens playing The Clash frontman Joe Strummer in the hugely acclaimed new biopic Bob Marley: One Love.
And yet it is music which is Sam’s first love. Having grown up in a small-town in Cornwall as an obsessive fan of the likes of Incubus, Rage Against The Machine and Biffy Clyro, his journey to American screen success, and a place within Nashville’s diverse music scene, has all been built on his love for guitar music and telling stories through his songs.
That love is evident throughout the driving music and evocative lyrics of ‘Tennessee’. Its singalong chorus, “woo-hoo” hooks, scorching guitar and passionate rock vocal showcase how Sam Palladio is effortlessly able to cross between the worlds of music and acting and shine brightly in both.
‘Tennessee’ is taken from Sam’s forthcoming debut solo album, full details of which will be announced very soon.
