Fresh from selling out London’s Old Blue Last, Re Teu announces his debut EP The Author out 20th October 2023 (pre-order here), and shares brand new single with the same name.

Pronounced Ree-Too, the singer-songwriter hails from the vibrant cities of London and Nottingham. A remarkable multi-instrumentalist, he effortlessly fuses delicate and soul-stirring folk melodies with atmospheric, euphoric rock vibes, and creates a sonic tapestry that is simultaneously one-of-a-kind and warmly reminiscent from the very first note.

On the new single, he says “This song encapsulates the feeling of release and surrender, embodying complete acceptance. We've become unfamiliar entities, characters within a tale, where you and I hold the quill as co-authors of our narrative.”

Playing music began from the age of 14 taking up drums as his first instrument, however this is not where the music roots began, as he was always listening and dancing to music growing up. Re Teu's musical journey was shaped by a diverse range of influences that started during his childhood. His home was filled with the rhythmic beats of Groove, Funk, and Soul from his Mum and Dad's record player, as well as the energetic melodies of Rock, Folk, and Indie music played on his brother's CD player. This early exposure laid the foundation for his broad musical taste, which now encompasses everything from the gentle and ambient sounds of artists like Bon Iver, Sigur Rós, and Ben Howard to the grand and exhilarating compositions of Sleep Token, Nordic Giants, and The 1975.

Expanding on his debut EP The Author he says, “The EP unfolds as a narrative, an odyssey through emotions and sentiments. It commences with shattered vulnerability, traverses tenacity and defiance, delves into melancholy, and culminates in the embrace of surrender. The reasoning behind these emotions and compositions remains open to the listener's interpretation, enabling anyone to grasp the pen and assume the role of "The Author."”

In addition to his passion for music, Re Teu had a diverse range of interests during his formative years, including skateboarding, gaming, and camping. Interestingly, these hobbies reflect the diverse range of genres that inspire his music. When he's not fully immersed in his musical pursuits, Re Teu works as an Interior Designer, adding another dimension to his creative repertoire.

Sharing the stage with celebrated acts, Re Teu has left an indelible mark on prestigious festivals such as Splendour Festival, Dot To Dot Festival, Hockley Hustle, and Beat the Streets. Additionally, Re Teu has garnered well-deserved recognition through coveted support slots on tour alongside notable artists such as Another Sky and Adam French.
