Forging ahead with more new music, Stockholm-born NOEL unveils the dramatic new track ‘Out of My Mind’, out 28th June.
It seems that fresh new talent NOEL is on a roll - with a wealth of new music waiting to be unleashed, he’s showing no signs of slowing down with his latest offering ‘Out of My Mind’. Pleading lines such as ‘Dear father help me life isn’t kind / Oh mother tell me I’ll be alright,’ he taps into a struggling mindset, vocals trembling with anxiety. NOEL admits that writing sad songs is something of a therapy for him, and it’s one he takes to with ease, letting the tough emotions tumble out to create a cathartic song such as this.
NOEL: ‘Even though I'm generally a happy person, I've definitely had some low points. When I'm in that headspace, I tend to overthink and be negative, making it quite difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. "Out of My Mind" was written from this perspective, focusing on the desperation and how easy it is to get stuck in a downward spiral.
I watch a lot of movies, and while writing “Out of My Mind”, I imagined it as part of a soundtrack. My two songwriting friends and I created the core of the song in about an hour, which is very fast compared to my usual process. However, since it's such a sensitive topic, it took a lot of finesse to get the words just right.’
Before capturing the hearts of millions on TikTok with his captivating bedroom covers, NOEL's early years were consumed by his love for football. It wasn't until a knee injury abruptly ended his football dreams at the age of 17 that music truly took centre stage in his life. Slowly but surely, NOEL started exploring his musical talents by singing in the shower and learning a few piano chords.
Soon he would spend hours each day playing instruments and singing, a routine he still follows with unwavering dedication. NOEL's journey as a songwriter began unexpectedly when his TikTok covers attracted the interest of industry professionals. At the age of 21, he has already collaborated with seasoned songwriters and producers, channelling his innate talent and passion into his own original compositions. His debut EP Headed North was finally released at the start of 2024.
