Pozi announce UK Tour - new record 19th May on PRAH

Announce UK Tour in June
Sharing new track ‘Pest Control’
Taken from the new album ‘Smiling Pools’
Released 19th May 2023 on PRAH Recordings.

Pozi's second album Smiling Pools is a gradual swelling of their minimal post-punk sound into effulgent avant-pop. Using experimentation as their chief tool, they’ve somehow managed to get weirder and poppier simultaneously on this new set, and it’s their strongest yet.

Pest Control harks back to the fall of the Colston statue, dreaming of a world where nationalism and hatred have been paved over - not forgotten but used as a tool to learn from one's mistakes. Even more pertinent given this current government's stance on immigration. Toby explains:

“Remnants of imperialism in England have hung around the country’s crevices for decades - Pest Control celebrates that with the fall of the Colston statue, and historical perpetrators brought to light, the tide is turning from those previous generations. Dreaming of escaping the old world’s clutches, moving towards a future where nationalism and hate have been paved over, where people can be happy and equal. Although we’re far from there yet, this song paints a hopeful picture of what our fate could be.”

A word on the video, directed and animated by wubacub:

"I heard a vaguely post-winter, pale pink punk sound on this track, so that’s what we shot for. As sounds cut, clip and melt into each other, I wanted to reflect that in the visuals as a kind of aid for soaking in the hope and message of the tune. Lots of light and plenty of Pozi."
