Plasmata share Tattoo Vampire video + free download

Chicago Glampires share the new video and free download of their glammed-up dark alt-rock cover of the Blue Öyster Cult classic, ahead of their Imperfect Waves Tour

Premiering exclusively with Outburn.com on Monday (22 July 2024), Plasmata’s new single is a glammed-up dark alt-rock cover of Blue Öyster Cult’s ‘Tattoo Vampire’, released as a free download via Bandcamp this week. With the video capturing Plasmata live on stage, the band have recently announced that they are taking their melodramatic stage show on the road for the Imperfect Waves Tour in Fall 2024, joined by [melter] and 2 Forks.

Speaking about recording and releasing the cult classic ‘Tattoo Vampire’, founder and frontman Trent Jeffries told Outburn Magazine:

I’ve been a fan of this song for a very long time, and knew that someday I would attempt a solid rendition with enough swagger to make it my own. It has been a staple of Plasmata’s live set for almost two years, so it is very satisfying to commit it to a recorded version.”

Helmed by Trent Jeffries since 2005, Plasmata combine classic Chicago industrial-rock and dark alt-rock with gothic “Glampire” aesthetics. Their 2021 EP, Portraits of Pain was produced by William Faith (of The Bellwether Syndicate, Faith and the Muse, Rozz Williams et al), and explored themes ranging from Trent’s harrowing recovery from a debilitating brain aneurysm with lead single ‘Leviathan’; through to the “Jack the Ripper Manifesto” of ‘Ten Bells’. The EP in turn yielded remixes of ‘Leviathan’ by William Faith, and the ‘You Call Him the Devil’ remix of ‘Ten Bells’ by Ben Christo of The Sisters of Mercy.

Led by Jeffries’ onstage theatrics and the guitar histrionics of Marco Obaya, Plasmata live are a fourpiece band, known for routinely bringing the house down at Chicago underground music haunts like Liar’s Club and Reggie’s Rock Bar. The band will soon take their show on tour of the US East Coast with [melter] and 2Forks, for the Imperfect Waves Tour in September 2024.

‘Tattoo Vampire’ by Plasmata is out now as a free download from Bandcamp, with Spotify and all major digital music platforms to follow soon.
