(21st March) Today, Manchester's Phoebe Green releases new EP 'The Container' via The Green Dream Machine and shares a video for previously unheard EP highlight 'I Could Try To Change'. Phoebe launches the EP with a run of headline dates in April, with stops in Leeds, Bristol, Manchester, Brighton and London, and supports Antony Szmierek at Manchester's Albert Hall this evening.

Marking a significant evolution in her artistry, new EP 'The Container' was written and produced by Phoebe within the intimate settings of her flat in Manchester and her parents' house in the coastal town of Lytham St Annes.

Phoebe Green's music has always been marked by raw honesty and captivating sonic landscapes, yet with new EP 'The Container' she delves even deeper, presenting the most genuine expression of herself to date.

From the dimly lit indie-pop euphoria of new single 'I Could Try To Change' and the shadowy, introspective synth-pop of 'What Are You Doing', to the electronically-tinged balladry of EP opener, 'Rage Of A Kid', across the five track project Phoebe delves into the complexities of intense emotional connections, exploring themes of longing, obsession, and the delicate balance between self-love and self-sacrifice.

On the meaning behind the EP's title, Phoebe shared:

"The reason I titled the EP ‘The Container’ is due to the physical feeling of trying to contain or suppress something. I tried to contain some experiences I had in my teens and the uncomfortable feelings that stemmed from them, but the longer I kept them in the more they ate away at me until in my early twenties I became so unwell that I had to let them out. I used to get so frustrated with the feeling of being misunderstood, and I couldn’t understand why nobody reacted to things in the way that I did, so as I grew up I began containing those outbursts. I feel closer to that childlike feeling now in my mid twenties than I ever have."

Working with producer & mixer Ric Levy upon finalising the EP, the project presents a dynamic range of sounds, from intimate ballads to anthemic choruses, as Phoebe notes:

"I’d been listening to a lot of Imogen Heap, St Vincent, Caroline Rose and obviously Charli XCX and Chappell Roan, though I don’t feel as though I’ve intentionally drawn much influence from anywhere in particular. I think I’ve subconsciously shied away from writing big pop choruses in the past, but I really loved experimenting with this on this new EP. I’ve really tried to marry the sounds with the lyrics and allowed the vulnerability to be a focal point, I mean what I say and if one day I don’t feel the same, then I’ll try not to be embarrassed that I once said something with conviction because at the end of the day I believe in something entirely until I don’t."

New EP 'The Container' features the previously released singles 'What Are You Doing', 'Precious Things' and 'Rage Of A Kid', attracting consistent daytime airplay from BBC 6 Music (Nemone, Amy Lamé, Craig Charles, Tom and Deb), glowing press support from key tastemakers including The Line of Best Fit, CLASH Magazine, Dork Magazine, DIY Magazine, 1883 Magazine, Far Out Magazine, Popjustice, Rough Trade and covering Spotify's Fresh Finds UK playlist and YouTube Music's young x dazed playlist.
