PEACH announce self-titled debut studio album out 30/10/23

Bristol’s desert-rock, post-punk four-piece, PEACH, are pleased to announce the release of their debut self-titled album, on September 30th 2023.

In 2019, drummer Andy Sutor and guitarist Jean-Paul Jacyshyn (JP) started working on ideas for PEACH. Their shared love of 90’s and early 2000’s desert rock, punk and grunge helped shape up their ideas, citing influences such as Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey and Eleven. Soon after recruiting Tim Cooke on baritone guitar, the initial song ideas started to take shape, but progress was inevitably stifled…

Due to the pandemic delaying progress, the lineup of PEACH finally reached completion in the summer of 2021. Local powerhouse, Ellie Godwin (No Violet), started collaborating on vocals, bringing along writing and vocal influences such as Joni Mitchell and Jeff Buckley. Taking their ideas to the rehearsal room, the band pulled together a hard hitting set of songs. After such a drawn-out inception, they thought it deserved to be recorded.

With a handful of successful singles under their belt, PEACH have been championed by the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Daniel P Carter, Noizze, James Scarlett (Arctangent and 2000Trees festivals) and BBC Radio Wales’ Adam Walton. They have been awarded support slots alongside bands such as Mclusky, LIFE, Chiyoda Ku, Crows, Skin Failure and CLT DRP as well as a slot in 2022’s Arctangent Festival.

Their upcoming debut self-titled album was recorded in Devon at Middle Farm Studios in February 2022 with the incredibly talented and versatile producer Peter Miles (Architects, Dodie, Petrol Girls, TesseracT). Staying true to their original influences, the band opted to record live to tape, using minimal overdubs and capturing the raw energy that now defines their sound.

Through huge and heavy drums, distinctive riffs, dirge tones and powerful, emotive vocals, the band explores boundaries, comfort zones, change, and moments of clarity in relationships. This nine track self-released epic of a debut sincerely announces PEACH as a band that are both mighty and honest.

Ahead of the album’s release came its leading single Already There on June 16th 2023; a song about growing aware of being manipulated and the feelings that come with that realisation.

Discussing their influences and meaning behind the song, the band explain: “Already There is about a growing awareness of being manipulated - that guttural feeling of unease, exhausted and perplexed thoughts, repeatedly striving to be a better version of oneself. As you move through the circular notion of this song, its growling and sludgy behaviours are profound. Already There eventually leads to the intertwining of the spiralling vocals and the jagged guitar solo, projecting the emotion of the track to a pinnacle point of defeat.”

Alongside the single saw its music video, directed and produced by graphic designer Charlotte Gosch (studio other types) and IDLES’ Lee Kiernan - both part of the film production company Holding Hands with Horses.
