About Patch Kid

Brooklyn-based indie/emo band Patch Kid has released two new tracks, Double Knot + Sad With Power in collaboration with Producer Jon Markson, who has previously worked to craft the sound of acts like Drug Church, Soul Blind, and Such Gold. Patch Kid’s razor-sharp, pop forward sound is accentuated by songwriter Sam Palumbo’s deceptively intricate guitar work, drawing as much inspiration from 90’s pop rock classics as it does modern emo.

Sam Palumbo About the Track

"This tune has big 'Well, if it isn’t the consequences of my actions?' energy. It was a few months post-breakup, and leaning into impulses without doing any real work on myself had cost me time, energy, and a few close friendships. The song laments the constant debriefing you have to do when meeting up with friends in a split social circle, how it can feel like you’re seeing them on visitation time as a parolee. The line in the chorus 'So take a shot if you’re thirsty, a cigarette if you’re lonely', is me at the end of all that, saying 'fuck it, can we please just party?'"
