Looking forward to actually meeting up with her again and then finding out they never planned to come and aren't going to be in your life again is a sobering reality that Christine has truly moved on and has her own path ahead. “The Wrong and Only Way” recognizes that holding onto a connection that will never be is an empty promise that only makes the chasm in your heart that much deeper. Coming to grips with the guilt and regret of what could have been, the best option moving forward is to hold out hope that she doesn’t hold onto any misgivings of the past and truly forgives herself for what can never be undone, even if she can never forgive again.
