Out Now Bealby Point decipher communication issues in “Coded Personalities”

Looking to the future through the lens of the past, the members of Bealby Point have spent the better part of the last four years developing a singular sound that highlights their deep bond and shared history, while simultaneously paying homage to their key influences – such as The Strokes and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Their song “Coded Personalities” is inspired by the struggles that come with communication in a relationship. The song follows the story of a summer crush and the desperation in trying to to be liked, but disguising one’s true intentions to avoid being the first to admit their feelings.

Being vulnerable and being honest with someone is much more difficult than beating around the bush. These two people are trying desperately to connect, but suffer a communication breakdown that inevitably leads to further self-discovery and the realization that learning more about yourself will help you learn more about others.

The title of the song is a reference to the Myers-Briggs personality test which is essentially a quiz that assigns you a combination of letters which make up your personality type. There seems to be a tendency with this test which enables people to rely on their personality type to help them find out who they are as opposed to discovering who they are through honest, authentic communication in their own lives.
