Our Nameless Boy unveil new single 'Leaving Party'

Following their 2021 debut album ‘Colour from the Doves’, which provided a deeply personal account of lead vocalist Iain’s’ battle with cancer and a recent change in sights, outwardly attempting to make sense of the modern human condition, Bristol based alt-rock band, Our Nameless Boy, have today returned with their brand-new single ‘Leaving Party’. Stream here on all platforms.

“Leaving Party was a reaction to the dangerous rhetoric of the likes of Suella Braverman et al. I guess I was trying to fill what felt to me to be a void in empathy, compassion and humanity left by such people. ‘LP’ is an attempt to write from the perspective of a father fleeing war with a young daughter, having lost his wife in a bombing. I try to imagine as best I can the sense of loss and hopelessness in a position like that (“… that decision, like my love, was taken from my hands”).” - Iain Gorrie, Vocalist.

Continuing to talk about a change in direction Iain mentions, “Our album (“Colour from the Doves”, 2021) was a very introspective piece, a reflection on my battle with cancer. Since then I have wanted to focus my writing more outwardly. It took me a little time to figure out what that focus and my angle should be, and I vaguely landed on an attempt to critique- but also better understand the modern human condition.”

Biography:

Inspired by the emotionally charged, quiet/loud and sometimes frenetic dynamics of the late ‘90s/‘00s US alternative/emo scene, Bristol based alt-rock band Our Nameless Boy bring their own brand of raucous energy to their performances, with songs that are hard hitting and subtle in their intricacies.

Whilst the album (‘Colour from the Doves’, 2021) provides a deeply personal account of a Iains’ battle with cancer, more recently Our Nameless Boy have set their sights more outwardly, attempting to make sense of the modern human condition through narratives intended to inspire empathy and self-reflection both in themselves and others.
