“Marching Over” is the latest single to be unveiled from Onipa’s forthcoming album “Off the Grid” (6 October, Real World Records) and marks a new sonic exploration, combining Malian Desert Blues with Baka chants of Central Africa and the unmistakable Afrobeat sounds of ex-Fela Kuti band member, Dele Sosimi, the London afrobeat don!

"Marching Over is our bouncy wake-up call, featuring our friend, teacher and ambassador of afrobeat Dele Sosimi who takes us on a journey into the spiritual underground evoking our happy childhood memories and the games we used to play on the streets with friends and family, a higher call to lose yourself, wake up and keep pursuing our dreams. A soundscape echoing a fusion of African Folk and futurism." (K.O.G.)

The video, directed by Kofi Badu and shot in Ghana, is set against the backdrop of the picturesque Akuma Village and transports the viewer into a world of raw emotion and artistic expression. A captivating visual experience that artfully combines the essence of body movements and facial expressions, using homemade instruments

"Off The Grid" is the band’s second full-length album, a journey that joins the origin story of dance rhythms from Africa to electronic dance music of today's clubs and festivals, connecting African folklore and storytelling to rap, jazz and hip hop.

From Accra Market cassette tapes to London pirate radio stations, Ogene music to UK jazz - the twin creative forces behind Onipa — Tom Excell (Nubiyan Twist) and Kweku Sackey (K.O.G. & the Zongo Brigade) - together with Finn Booth on drums and Dwayne Kilvington (a.k.a. Wonky Logic) on synths, have built a life-affirming and highly original world of sound.

It’s their first release on Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records, and features an impressive cast of collaborators including Moonchild Sanelly, David Walters, Dele Sosimi and Theon Cross.
