Ominous and Ethereal Songstress La Faute Delivers Engrossing 'Blue Girl Nice Day' LP

A hidden gem from the frozen heart of Toronto, ON, La Faute is art school dropout and Sony Music Publishing artist Peggy Messing's dark, dreamy solo project. A visual artist, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter whose haunting work explores themes of surface vs. depth, longing, betrayal, mourning and desire.

Her new album, Blue Girl Nice Day, is a cohesive and engaging journey through the dark and introspective side of life, told from the female pov/psyche. The collection of songs came almost unintentionally written by Peggy during the pandemic as part of her penchant for creation, song after song being written eventually found themselves to be this LP.  "I just wrote song after song. I had no more plans to play shows, no thought of an audience, I just tried to make music in my own voice. It kept me going while I was dealing with my illness and helped me focus. I'm like one of those birds who spends their lives building an elaborate ridiculous nest."

The ominous foreboding yet delicate highlight single, "Let it Burn," is a wonderful primer of the artistry of La Faute. "Some music involves a lot of yelling, but that's not me. I like to serve it cold. I'm inspired by female villains and final girls."
