New York singer-songwriter Adam Lytle shares the second single ‘Heaven’ from his new album Altars. A darkly driven track drawing on elements of psychedelic rock and Kosmische, it bridges the gap between his new long-player with its more full-band, rock-driven sound and his broody stark lyric-driven debut  This Is The Fire (2023) which was described as “both cinematic in its scope and poetic in its delivery, hinting somewhat at Scott Walker territory“ by Americana UK.

Heaven’ was recorded live in the studio “and with each take the sound became more and more unhinged” say Lytle. It mirrors the unraveling arc of the song’s narrative, described by Lytle as “A critique in the form of an odyssey. It follows one person’s search for meaning through a society that pretends to have all the answers.”

Its accompanying retro black and white video looks like a resurfaced mid-60’s Hullabaloo TV performance, with the band filmed performing the song live at the legendary Power Station studio in Hell’s Kitchen, New York, created by the studio’s in-house video team led by Director of Photography Simon Yu.

Adam Lytle’s new album Altars was written by Lytle and created alongside long-term collaborator/producer Jonathan Schenke (Liars, Parquet Courts) and a collection of guest musicians, combining a live-band sound with unique sonic experimentations. It is a raw and unrelenting record but one also encompassing a strange, fragile beauty. Described by Lytle as “A collection of songs that is united by their unwavering examination of Devotion.”

Heavenis out now and available on all digital streaming platforms with its video on YouTube with the long-player Altarsfollowing on 2nd May.
