No Distance Records - Volume compilation release

Under-the-radar acts compilation vinyl ‘Volume’ out Friday December 6

  • Album curated by South East London record label No Distance Records

  • Tracks from acts on the label’s roster and beyond, showcasing the underground indie music scene

  • Vinyl will be marked with three launch shows in the first week of December

  • No Distance Records has recently hit the Official Charts for the first time

‘Volume’, a collection of songs curated by South East London label No Distance Records showing off the best indie and alt-rock music being played in the capital, is set to be released on Friday December 6.

Playlists are transitory and disposable. This collection, available on 12” vinyl, is permanent.

These are under-the-radar acts who deserve more attention.

These are acts that destroy the narrative that rock and roll is dead.

These are acts that should be playing on big stages to massive crowds.

Forget nostalgia. Forget metrics. Forget trending.

From the raw energy of Sweet Unrest to the art punk of Shtepi; the frustration of Test Plan to the power of Scarlett Woolfe, this compilation shows alternative music is alive and well and living beyond streaming.

Some of these acts are on our label. Some are on others. Some are fiercely independent.

No Distance Records co-founder Owen Bennett: “Music, and the music industry, should be for the many, not the few. We’re putting out this vinyl because we want people to take notice of these musicians. We want people to realise there’s essential, powerful, intoxicating music being made right now, and these bands should be getting national airplay, coverage in the media, and playing at big festivals.

“We’re saying to all those people who moan about the music industry being stale or just a parade of nostalgia: this is the fightback. Rally round. Support these bands.”

The vinyl will be available to buy via record shops across the country, and can be pre-ordered now through Bandcamp and nodistancerecords.co.uk.

The release will also be marked with three launch shows, all happening across the first week of December in the lead up to release day.

All gigs are taking place at Sebright Arms in East London.
