New Zealand Indie Luminaries Daily J Explore Love and Longing in New Single "Tastes Like Forever"

NEW ZEALAND INDIE LUMINAIRES DAILY J EXPLORE LOVE AND LONGING IN NEW SINGLE "TASTES LIKE FOREVER"

Auckland's indie luminaires, Daily J, invite listeners into a new chapter with their latest single, “Tastes Like Forever.” This mesmerising track is the third single of 2024 and comes just in time to soundtrack the summer of the southern hemisphere.

Building on the momentum of singles “Happy Slides” and “Sunday Stitches” the band continue to evolve, showcasing a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly new. Produced by faithful collaborator Joe Faris, “Tastes Like Forever” wraps listeners in vivid imagery and evokes the thrilling uncertainty of new love.

Jayden Paul, the band’s frontman, dives into the inspiration behind the track:
“The song was written to capture the feeling of falling for someone who leaves a lasting impression. It’s about that emotional tug-of-war - the longing, the missed chances, the ‘what ifs’ when someone new steps into your story.”

With their captivating live performances, festival appearances, praise from BBC Radio 1, Rolling Stone and NME and their independently released single "Left Me Like Summer" celebrating gold status, Daily J are fast carving out a space for themselves in the global indie scene. “Tastes Like Forever” is more than just another single—it’s a glimpse into what’s coming next for the band as they prepare to share details of their most exciting work to date.

Alongside the release of their new single, Daily J unveil a striking music video directed by Dylan Martin. Shot in black and white, the video delves into one of the core visual themes of their upcoming project - mannequins, symbolising the concept of unattainable perfection. As the video progresses, the band is shown interacting with the mannequins - dressing them, accessorising them, and playing with them - using them as a metaphor for the elusive and often lifeless pursuit of perfection, which may not exist at all.

As this latest single takes the airwaves, Daily J prove once again why they’re one of the most exciting acts to watch, delivering a song that is irresistibly catchy yet emotionally rich.
